Minnesota natives William and Katie Dohman have dedicated their lives to a love of design: William began his career in architecture and with a penchant for the DIY, Katie with a career as a style editor. What started as William’s handmade present to Katie made from architectural samples grew into Oh Dier, a full-fledged home-décor, entertaining, and kids’ toys company focused on well-crafted items made from thoughtfully sourced—and often upcycled—wood and other cool materials.
We love to celebrate, and so it’s only natural that Oh Dier grew into a line that encompasses many of life’s biggest milestones, from cohabitation (the Cohab box), marriage (signage and the Pixie proposal box), to tabletop and kitchen accessories (salt cellars and cutting boards), parties and ceremonies (cake toppers and more) and even birth and kids (proportional blocks and toys). We believe our possessions tell a story—and that we should love where we live.
We have also come to mean that we believe everyone has the absolute right to a safe and loving home. To that end, Oh Dier will be donating 20 percent of its profits to the storied Tubman, a domestic violence organization that’s been around for nearly half a century, providing a safe harbor for more than 30,000 women, youth, men and families who have experienced relationship violence, sexual assault and exploitation, elder abuse, addiction, and other forms of trauma each year. Additionally, they do public information campaigns that reach more than 20,000 people each year. Tubman’s impact on the community and the breadth and depth of their services is truly astonishing—we encourage you to take a look at what they do, join us in making a donation, or find a cause of your own to support.
We love collaborations! One of our most frequent accomplices is graphic designer, Screen Printing on the Cheap co-founder, and frequent ArtCrank contributor Nate Johannes. His creative input and screenprinting know-how are invaluable.
